Jim Ward

I started hunting at an early age and after graduating from high school in Martinsville In I enlisted in the Marine Corps – Infantry. In the Marine Corps, I learned land navigation and maps in the jungle of Panama and Okinawa, Japan and continued to hone my navigational skills at the Navy Seal Center in Coronado, California prior to leaving for the Persian Gulf to participate in Operation Earnest Will. I also qualified as an expert with the rifle and served as a rifle range coach. Three years as a Navigator taught me that terrain features are essential to the pursuit of Whitetails.

I left the Marine Corps in 1989 and attended Vincennes University obtaining an Associate’s Degree in Conservation Law and was recognized on the National Dean’s List two years straight. I began hunting public land in 1990. My education took me further- I went to Ball State University where after a brief hiatus working as an Environmental Protection Specialist with Comarco Engineering Company at the Crane Ammunition Depot (One of the best places in Indiana to hunt, if you can get a tag there.) I obtained my Bachelor Degree of Science Degree in Natural Resources.

While spending 3 years in Florida I researched the record books and the state regulations where he determined that Iowa was the best place with the best opportunities for bow hunting.

Since then I have worked on hundreds of properties helping landowners and hunters get the best possible hunting opportunities through strategic habitat improvements, stand placement, and a deep understanding of whitetail behavior.

Jim Ward’s Whitetail Academy is unlike any other class or service.  Jim believes the best way to teach others about his practices and tactics is by actually doing the work on your property and showing you the process.  No other will work as hard to improve your property and make you a successful hunter.  Jim’s tactics are designed to help you identify natural traps and create others for a successful hunt.  Contact Jim Ward and “Take A Stand and Improve Your Land”.
