Missouri Muskie Fisherman Bio

I am a lifelong Missouri Muskie fisherman with 47 years dedicated to pursuing, studying, and promoting the sport of muskie fishing in the state of Missouri and beyond. I currently serve as President of the Pomme de Terre Chapter of Muskies Inc., where I work to advance muskie conservation, education, and angler engagement throughout Missouri.

I am the founder, editor, and administrator of the Missouri Muskie Fishing Facebook page, which has grown into one of the most active and recognizable online communities for Missouri muskie anglers. Through this platform, I share fishing knowledge, conservation messaging, historical perspective, and real-world experience to help grow the sport responsibly.

For more than 15 years, I competed on the Professional Muskie Tournament Trail, fishing premier muskie waters across Kentucky, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. These competitive experiences sharpened my understanding of muskie behavior across diverse fisheries and conditions—knowledge I continue to apply to Missouri waters today.

My roots in muskie fishing run deep. I caught the Missouri State Record Muskie on September 15, 1978, just days before my 15th birthday—an experience that cemented a lifelong passion for the species. I truly grew up as a Missouri Muskie fisherman, learning the waters, seasonal patterns, and history of the state’s muskie fisheries firsthand.

Beyond competition, education and mentorship have always been central to my involvement in the sport. I have presented numerous seminars focused specifically on Missouri muskie fishing, sharing practical, location-specific insights with anglers of all experience levels. I have also guided many anglers at no charge, helping introduce new fishermen to the sport and putting countless anglers on their first muskie.

At the conservation and policy level, I have actively supported and advocated for Missouri’s muskie management efforts by working through the Conservation Federation of Missouri and alongside the Missouri Department of Conservation during the development and continued renewal of the Statewide Muskellunge Species Plan for Missouri. That plan is now in its third consecutive 10-year version and continues to guide long-term management, stocking strategies, and conservation priorities for muskie fisheries across the state.

In addition to my Missouri experience, I have spent over 30 years fishing a wide range of Canadian muskie lakes during extended trips and family vacations, gaining perspective on trophy management, long-term fisheries planning, and angler participation models that continue to influence my conservation work today.

Missouri muskie fishing is not just something I do—it is who I am. My lifelong commitment is to preserve, promote, and strengthen the future of muskie fishing in Missouri for the next generation of anglers.
